Fine Arts
Pemberton is home to many prominent and emerging
artists. Each year the Winterfest features different

artists and artisans on-site.
In 2007, the Artshow wine & cheese evening was hosted
by: Toshi Kawano, Lisa Komuro, Karen Love, Lynn
Pocklington, Vanessa Stark, Wim Tewinkel, Mike Tyler,
Rafal Warzybok, Chris Ankeny, Meg Gallup, Gord
Rutherford and Judy Bourhis.
Lynn Pocklington
BC Artist, Lynn Pocklington, grew up in North Vancouver
and completed theArt Program at Capilano College in
1986. After a 6 year stint in theVancouver commercial
art scene she and family moved to the Pemberton Valley
and there opened her own business, Whistler Graphic
Designs.
Owning and breeding horses has been a great inspiration
for many of her earlier acrylics. Pack trips into the
back country of Pemberton helped develop her technique
of blending the rugged nature of the valley with the
native wildlife into her paintings. In winter the family
are avid skiers and snowmobilers of the spectacular
Whistler Peaks and the Pemberton Ice Cap.
The on hand experience is evidenced by her vibrant
watercolours of theareas. Recently a new vista has
opened with a family summer cottage on the Sunshine
Coast close to the Copeland Islands and Desolation
Sound. This area abounds with sea life, eagles,
magnificent ocean views and sunsets.
One of her latest acrylic pieces, Sweet Dreams, a seal
pup, reflects the visual impact this area is having on
her art.
Lynn is an active member of the Federation of Canadian
Artists, Whistler and Pemberton Arts Councils. She
donates to and participates in various charities and
events. Some of which are the Steelhead Society,
Blackcomb Freestyle World Cup Society, Whistler Health
Care Foundation, Coast Salmon Enhancement Society. Her
work is sold internationally and she takes private
commissions upon approval.
Lynn lives in Pemberton with her husband Peter and three
children. She works from her studio in Pemberton where
her works may be viewed by appointment. Note cards and a
limited number of prints are available for sale at
various locations in Pemberton, Whistler and Vancouver. Lynn Pocklington (604) 894-2450

Karen Love
I was born and raised in Kleinburg, Ontario, home of the
McMichael Canadian Art Collection. While growing up in
the 60’s I spent a lot of time at the gallery and in the
woods and fields surrounding it. The Group of Seven, Tom
Thompson and Emily Carr, naturally, were huge influences
on me.
I participated in many sketching outings led by A.Y.
Jackson, who lived at the Gallery in his twighlight
years. We'd go out to the wooded gallery grounds and
sketch, and he'd be pushed along in his wheel chair and
talk about our work - and his. While I'm very interested
in abstract painting and often go through abstract
phases, my greatest enjoyment comes from expressing
nature's fundament though art. I spend a lot of time
wandering our farm property in Pemberton, BC, always
discovering new beauty in the field, forest, pond and
garden. Nature's colors and geometric shapes are
incredibly interesting to observe through the different
seasons.
I studied Fine Art at Art Sake Inc., a studio school in
Toronto, known for experimental and contemporary
painting, run by 10 Canadian Artists during the 80’s. I
continued my studies at Sheridan College School of Craft
& Design, learning Glass blowing and Jewellery design.
Later I continued courses at Emily Carr Design
Institute, Capilano College and VCC in Vancouver.
I've spent my working life immersed in the visual arts -
as a landscape oil painter, graphic designer,
illustrator, photographer, muralist and silversmith. For
many years, my husband and I owned and operated a
marketing communication firm with a national client
base. Now living in Pemberton over 15 years I still get
inspiration to continue exploring beauty in the
landscape.

Meg Gallup
Meg flourished in the University of Calgary Ceramics
Dept. while acquiring her Bachelor of Arts Degree. She
moved to B.C. and began a career in pottery, which she
pursued in Vancouver, Whistler and Pemberton. Focusing
on production of functional high-fired stoneware as well
as one of a kind art pieces, she has made pottery
enjoyed in homes throughout Canada and the United
States.
This artist’s creations are now fired in a gas kiln at
her home studio on Pemberton, B.C. using glazes she
personally developed. The love for hand thrown wheelwork
and revealing the unique qualities that ‘reduction’
fired glazes create has motivated Meg’s involvement in
clay for the last twenty years. Bringing art and the
medium’s natural beauty to household objects is a
continual theme in this potter’s work.

Mike Tyler
Mike is a self-taught Canadian artist. Along his
creative path, Mike's various styles of art have left
their mark in, and on, some of the finest homes in
Whistler, B.C. and around the world. His work has now
become well known in the Sea to Sky Corridor and is
becoming a standard within custom homes built by the
award-winning developer Vision Pacific. During this time
Mike spent many days working with stone, which led to
his ultimate interest, stone carving. His interests
became focused on three-dimensional pieces. Mike’s
professional career began in his late twenties, after
his sculptures were discovered and featured by a
prominent Whistler gallery, The Adele Campbell Gallery.
